UJI FITOKIMIA DAN AKTIVITAS ANTIDIABETES EKSTRAK BIJI RAMBUTAN (NEPHELIUM LAPPACEUM L) DENGAN BERBAGAI PELARUT

Abstract


The research of phytochemical and antidiabetic test have been conducted on rambutan seed (Nephelium lappaceum L) whereby rambutan is among one of herbal medicines in Indonesia. However, to date only the primary metabolite content has been researched whilst the secondary metabolite content and antidiabetic activity have not. The method used in this study was extraction by way of maceration with 3 types of solvents of different polarities namely: methanol, dichloromethane, and n-hexane. Identification of contained compounds was done by common reagents used in phytochemical test. The antidiabetic test was done on the extract using α-glucosidase enzyme and normal male mice by way of glucose tolerance test method. Findings from the phytochemical test showed that rambutan seeds contained phenolic and flavonoid compounds. From methanol extract was found 6 components of compounds made up of 5 phenolic (flavonoid) compounds and 1 phenolic non flavonoid compound. Methanol, dichloromethane and n-hexane extracts did not have inhibiting activity against α-glucosidase enzyme. However, methanol extract had hypoglycemic activity on normal male mice.
