PEMBUATAN DAN PENGUJIAN BIODIESEL DARI BAHAN BAKU MINYAK GORENG BEKAS

Abstract


Petroleum is an unrenewable source of energy, and its existence is limited, therefore that is needed to find an alternative environmental friendly fuel. For the purpose above mentioned, one of the alternative is to synthesis a biodiesel fuel from used cooking oil, methanol, and KOH (potassium hydroxide) as a catalyst. The research was carried out at the laboratory of analytic chemistry, Combustion Engine Laboratory Udayana University, and Automotive Laboratory of Politeknik Negeri Bali. The product of biodiesel from this research was then investigated its fuel consumption, CO gas content and the smoke density by using diesel engine with diesel fuel as a comparison. The was done at five different speed test condition namely 650, 1000, 1350, 1700, and 2050 rpm. The result of the research can be concluded that, the diesel engine that is uses biodiesel as a fuel has fuel consumption rate, Co gas contents and smoke density lower that use diesel fuel one.
